Opis usluga
The Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation (abbreviated as Blue World Institute) works on the preservation of the marine environment through three main programs – scientific research program, educational program, and conservation program.
Blue World Institute Veli Lošinj
The subject of scientific research is large marine vertebrates (whales, sea turtles, and elasmobranchs), and the knowledge obtained from research results is translated into educational content and used in species and habitat protection projects. Our headquarters are located on the island of Lošinj with research stations on the islands of Murter and Vis, where we collaborate with local communities, as well as national, regional, and international institutions and organizations to collectively enhance sustainable management of the marine environment and protect the marine environment in the entire Mediterranean region.
The Blue World Institute has led several national and international initiatives for the protection of the marine environment. As a result of our efforts, part of Kvarnerić was declared the first reserve for bottlenose dolphins in the Mediterranean Sea in 2006, and later this area became part of the Natura 2000 ecological network.
